This photograph was one of five in a series that was on exhibit at the Eroticism event at the National Arts Club in New York City, May 21st 2009. It later went of tour with the Art Undressed touring exhibition to Miami, San Francisco, Los Angelest, Chicago and Dallas.

I am often asked which one of my models is my favourite. That is probably the easiest question to answer. It is kind of like asking a parent which one of his or her children is his or her favourite. Where I come from, one does not make such a distinction between their children. In the same way, I can’t do it with my models. Wheather I have chosen them or they have chosen me, it was a decision to work together offering one another their trust and opening one’s self to stand naked and vulnerable before the other. Yes, the photographer too, although not naked, is vulnerable during the shooting session. So, really, no, there is no favourite model.

But in the results of the sessions, every so often, there is a shot that stands above the rest. A “shooting star” photograph that I know when I am working on it, that it will get the most views, comments and favourites. Every so often, I have the good fortune of such an image. I know it when it’s there and my viewers, fans and general “Flickr” public know it, see it and delight in it. The comments start pouring in and the appreciation becomes overwhelmingly evident.

I will sometimes hold back on such an image, thinking “let me save it for just the right time.” When is the right time? Right time of day? Week? Month? If I had only one such image, I would just hold on to it forever and never find a good enough time to exhibit it. Thankfully, I believe that there will always be another. In fact releasing one makes it possible for the others to come flowing in. Like water in a sink. You have to drain some out to let fresh water in.

I believe this image is such an image. I am completely convinced that this image will be among my highest rated images. Friday afternoon is a pretty good time to post it. People unwind for the weekend and after a long hard week of work they can go see what’s new on Flickr.

This is Milena feeling the warmth of the natural sunlight as it streams into our kitchen.

The large version is spactacular.

I was interviewed for Magic Places Fine Art on-line photography magazine. I invite you to read the article.

Eroticism: Studies of Desire & Sexuality

Celebration of the human form has evolved through the years, from the social perspective of society itself, to the artists that chose to capture it.

This evening the Roundtable creates an environment that explores the powerful effect of eroticism in the arts and its many forms of expression.

Eroticism: Studies of Desire & Sexuality will address such burning questions as

•What is erotica, who decides, and how have different cultures and eras expressed it?
How has erotic art been received in the art community?
Has the focus of erotic art changed through the years?
How has eroticism influenced the work of the world’s great artists, artisans and writers?

Discover the world of erotica via

Art presentation and lectures by Danielle Schachter, Annika Connor, and Caroly Weltman.
Erotic readings organized by Helga Kopperl with performances by actors Tony Travostino and Memory Contento.
Exploration (and tasting) of chocolate with lifestyle expert Thomas P. Farley.

Flight and Flock on Exhibit

Find more photos like this on HeuteKunst [TodayArt]
One of these photographs was selected to the University of Kent, Skepsi's Editorial board's "Ambiguities" exhibition, which will be held starting May 23rd, 2009 at Virginia Wolfe College. The entire series is called Flight and Flock.

As frenzied as these gulls were in their flight, so was I on the shutter button. Every second yielded a different composition.

Layered between each other, their reflections in the water and their shadows on the ice made the images even that much more complex and exciting.

Although the angle of view is downward, there is an ambiguity due to the reflection of the sky in the water and the melting ice so that it seems like I am shooting skyward. This makes the walking ducks and sea gulls appear to be walking in the sky.

Consider the contrasting elements of individual compared to group, sky compared to water compared to clouds, in-flight compared to earthbound, up compared to down, heaven compared to earth, big compared to small, reflections compared to shadows, gulls compared to ducks.

The images convey something much deeper than what they appear to be documenting on first glance. Take a moment to meditate upon them. As one views them, one can’t help but notice the visual transparency and fluidity of these images. But more than that, the subtle messages that are conveyed both visually and symbolically, give these images spiritual richness that goes beyond their apparent beauty.

Just one Movie Frame – Kerri

Just one Movie Frame – Kerri Just available light is often all we need to achieve an ambient, moody image. Although my work is almost always soft and warm, some scenes heighten the imagination and conjure up more vivid fantasies than others. I often consider my images as frames in a movie. Just an instant in time that can be imagined to be part of a sequence of frames that produce motion. But in this case I am not a cinematographer, but rather a still photographer. Nevertheless the thought often comes to mind. So one fills in the blanks. We try to create our own stories around the still frame of our movie. The movie that is a fantasy. Each frame is an individually different fantasy for the interpretation of each and every one of us. Looking at this image, what is your fantasy? " About Kenetic Music

Music is the lifeblood of the soul. It animates with every breath, beat and movement. Though each note is ephemeral, it has the unique ability to evoke emotion and vast visual experiences that are ubiquitous and eternal. Music transports us to far away places while being the most transportable art form in existence. A song or piece of music with depth lingers in your mind and can easily spark a flood of memories and emotion years later. My music is basically instrumental, its melodic intention is to transport you on a musical journey. One created by your own mind, not some one size fits all preconceived and prefabricated video.

I was born with music coursing through my veins. I play keyboards, guitar and percussion – congas, etc. There are 22 other instruments I’d love to play, but I guess those will have to wait for another lifetime. I see myself more of a composer than performer. So all my music is original. Hope you enjoy it.
